Welcome to Region 91

Greetings AYSO Players, Parents, and Family,
First, please allow me the opportunity to welcome those of you who will be participating with our organization for the first time this year. Region 91 is pleased that you’ve chosen to allow the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) to introduce the exciting game of soccer to you and your children. To those of you, who are returning to the AYSO Region 91 family, Welcome back! All of Region 91 volunteers, families and players can be proud to be part of such an outstanding program, and you can trust that Region 91 will continue to provide a fun and enjoyable experience for all.
AYSO takes great pride in being recognized as the premier youth sports organization. AYSO has come a long way from their humble beginning in a small garage in Hawthorne, California. Now boasting over 650,000 players with roots in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Jamaica and a start-up in Russia, the AYSO organization continues to flourish through the time and dedication of their volunteers.
Surprisingly, many fail to realize that the AYSO organization is run entirely by unpaid volunteers!! Every board member, coach, referee, team parent, etc. is guaranteed the same fantastic return which consists solely of the smiles of children and gratification received in knowing that they are providing a quality program that aids in the health and development of the community’s youth.
While Region 91 has been blessed with a brilliant group of volunteers who offer a wealth of knowledge, experience and fresh ideas; the region always needs more. What better way to set an example for your own children. Becoming a volunteer is an opportunity to network, provide leadership, gain practical experience, and receive personal satisfaction from engaging in activities that make a difference in your community and your child’s life. Any of your time you can offer is a valuable asset to the region as this organization survives solely through the time and dedication of its volunteers.
The Region 91 board continues to implement many positive changes that have provided the foundation for success in our region.
If you have a question, concern or comment, don’t hesitate to contact our board members. A listing of the board and other very useful information can be found throughout the web site.
Thank you for choosing Lancaster AYSO Region 91. The region wishes you all the best this season. Remember… Play well, play fair, cheer loud, but most of all – Have fun!
Sincerely

Ladonna Kirby
Regional Commissioner

AYSO Mission Statement:
The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO ) was established in the Los Angeles area in 1964 with only 9 teams. Today AYSO has more than 50,000 teams and 650,000 players in almost every state of the U.S. as well as regions in Moscow and Puerto Rico.
The Mission Statement of AYSO: To develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs where everyone builds positive character through participation in a fun, family environment based on the AYSO Philosophies:
Everyone Plays®
Our program’s goal is for kids to play soccer—so we mandate that every player on every team must play at least half of every game.
Balanced Teams
Each year we form new teams as evenly balanced as possible—because it is fair and more fun when teams of equal ability play.
Open Registration
Our program is open to all children between 4-1/2 and 19 years of age who want to register and play soccer. Interest and enthusiasm are the only criteria for playing.
Good Sportsmanship
Encouragement of player effort provides for greater enjoyment by the players and ultimately leads to better-skilled and better-motivated players.
Positive Coaching
We strive to create a positive environment based on mutual respect rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude, and our program is designed to instill good sportsmanship in every facet of AYSO.
Player Development
We believe that all players should be able to develop their soccer skills and knowledge to the best of their abilities, both individually and as members of a team, in order to maximize their enjoyment of the game.
AYSO is also a coalition member of the Josephson Institute of Ethics, and is committed to supporting the Character Counts Program and it's Six Pillars of Character:
Trustworthiness
Respect
Responsibility
Caring
Citizenship
Fairness
